Light Engine Stack Alignment

Push lens, waveguide and pull lens stack in sequence — with air gaps between them, never touching — each piece aligned in 6DoF with external-camera imaging feedback. After the stack is cured, a bead of epoxy is laid around the frame’s inner wall, and the whole stack is aligned and seated into the frame to complete the module.

  • Three-piece Stack · Air-gap Alignment Push / pull lenses stack with the waveguide under precise air-gap control — a non-contact assembly
  • External-camera Vision Feedback A top-view camera feeds fiducial and contour features into the loop in real time; once ΔX/ΔY/θ converge, the part is in place
  • Dispense & Cure After Alignment Align first, then dispense and UV-cure — the air gap holds constant through curing
  • Frame Beading · Stack Insertion The dispensing needle lays a bead around the frame’s inner wall; a second camera set aligns the stack and places it into the frame
01 / EQUIPMENT

Machine Light Engine Alignment Station · 6DoF Stack Assembly

It shares one 6DoF platform and machine family with the CCM and photonic-packaging solutions. This time, what the gantry and metrology tower in the chamber align is not a single module — but an optical stack that must be built up in sequence.

02 / PROCESS

Stack Process Pull · Push · Bond · Frame · Air-Gap Waveguide Stack

The waveguide is the datum: the pull lens aligns from below and the push lens closes from above, each air gap locked by the 6DoF platform. After the stack is dispensed and cured, the needle lays a bead around the frame’s inner wall, and the whole stack is aligned and seated into the frame — external-camera vision closes the loop throughout.

03 / MEASUREMENT

Measurement Inspection Camera · Beam Profiler Final Test

Alignment quality ultimately shows in the spot — centroid offset, 1/e² beam waist, ellipticity and air-gap readings, all reported by the beam profiler; the final test is the shipping criterion.

04 / APPLICATIONS

Pluggable feedback sources — one shared alignment foundation Beyond Light Engine Stacks

Image quality, optical power, beam shape — feedback sources are pluggable. One 6DoF motion and machine-vision foundation extends from CCM camera modules to light engines and photonic packaging — the shared core of every AIC equipment solution.

This page uses a projection light-engine stack as its example, but stack alignment reaches well beyond it.

A 6DoF motion, imaging-feedback and process-integration foundation already extends to camera modules, AR waveguides, light-engine stack alignment and optical coupling.
